Our names are Abe, Skylar, and Max, and we were challenged to try and find a topic under the theme movement. We decided on the topic, kennel cough. This topic matters to us because we all love animals, and we all had a dog. Dogs are apart of our family, and we always want them to be happy and healthy. When we talked even more about how to make this topic even narrower, we wanted to focus on preventing kennel cough from spreading. Since kennel cough is like a cold for dogs, it is very contagious and we are always worried about our dogs catching it. It causes many symptoms for dogs, such as dry coughing. One way to help prevent kennel cough are vaccines. For a part of my research, I interviewed Miranda from the VCA animal hospital. Miranda mentioned that because it is such a big hospital, they have about 20 to 30 dogs a month that come in with kennel cough. She also told me that the second the owner even thinks that their dog has kennel cough, the hospital immediately puts them in a separate room, and when the dog leaves, they spray the room with extremely harsh chemicals to kill all of the bacteria. They do all of this to prevent kennel cough from spreading. Also, in my research I found out that it is possible for dogs to get kennel cough anywhere, and that kennel cough takes approximately 3-10 days to develop. So, your dog can get it at any place at any time! We hope to create something that would protect dogs from catching this infectious disease, and give dog’s owners the feeling that their dogs are protected from kennel cough. Dogs are family, so anything that can be done to protect family from diseases will be done by us! Dogs need our help to fight off diseases, and that’s where we come in!
We need your help! We don't want to get diseases! We are all looking up to you!
